Setting the number of virtual desktops

Page history last edited by Ben 16 years, 7 months ago

Klikit has two virtual desktops by default, and frankly two is plenty for me, but for you power users, (you know who you are), who like to have fourteen  applications open at a time, two virtual desktops may be a bit shy of ideal.  No problemo!  Adding extra desktops is about as easy as it gets.  Just right click on one of the virtual desktop buttons on the panel at the bottom of the screen.  By default they are labeled 1 and 2.  From the menu, select Configure Desktops.

A KDE Control Module will open, containing the desktop configuration controls.

Using the slider or the up/down arrows you can easily set the number of virtual desktops to any number between one and twenty.  You can choose to keep the default numbering system or you can give each desktop a name, by typing the name in the field next to its number.  Check the box next to Mouse wheel over desktop background switches desktop, if you want to implement that function.  Click Apply, and you are finished. click OK to exit the setup panel.  Your new desktops will now be represented in the panel (taskbar), at the bottom of your screen.   papabearak
